Our Founder

Martha Hage, LCSW
Founder and Lead Clinical Supervisor

Martha has been active in the social work field since 2009, earning her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia. In 2016, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, recognizing the profound value of supervision from her own licensure journey. Her extensive background spans various clinical and community settings, including hospice care, transitional housing, domestic violence support, and services for homeless and low-income populations.

Specializing in advance care planning during her tenure in end-of-life care, Martha supervised a compassionate and skilled social work team. Her dedication led to the publication of an article focusing on values-based conversations with clients regarding their healthcare wishes. Inspired by the transformative power of supervision, she founded Clinical Horizons to guide and support social workers on their paths to licensure and professional growth.

Our Clinician

Jennifer Owen, Ph.D., LCSW

Jennifer obtained a Bachelor's of Psychology from the University of West Georgia, a Master’s of Social Work from Kennesaw State University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from Liberty University. Jennifer has provided direct mental health services as a social worker for over twelve years. Through hospice care, Jennifer has provided extensive support for both people battling terminal illnesses and their families. As a hospice Director of Psychosocial and Spiritual services, Jennifer created and leads a team of social workers and chaplains to provide compassionate patient care. Jennifer has also assisted in providing support for children and teenagers in the school system, equine therapy for troubled adolescents, and mentorship at a residential behavioral health treatment center. Jennifer is the founder and operator of Proclaim Counseling, LLC. Within her private practice, Jennifer diagnoses and treats a variety of mental health illnesses. Additionally, Jennifer conducts supervision with social workers moving towards their clinical licensure. Through standards of best practice and ethical care, Jennifer imparts knowledge and clinical skills needed to help social workers develop in their careers and calling.

Through academia, Jennifer has concentrated contributions regarding the fields of disaster and trauma. Jennifer is versed in these arenas and has a heart to help those who are recovering from highly stressful or traumatic events. In 2010, Jennifer conducted research and drafted segments of The Disasters of Mental Health website for the state of Georgia. This comprehensive resource addresses the mental health components of disaster. In 2013, Jennifer participated in an innovative Adaptive Physical Activity (ADA) program in Rheinsberg, Germany. Social work and sports therapy collaborated regarding how to rehabilitate communities after disaster through use of the surrounding environment. Furthermore, in 2024 Jennifer extensively studied and published her work regarding the relationship between communication styles and posttraumatic growth (PTG). Jennifer drafted a Positive Communication Approach (PCA) as a potential therapeutic modality for facilitating PTG and conducted a pilot study to assess its effectiveness. Jennifer continues to evolve professionally and desires to help other social workers achieve clinical confidence and provide excellent client care.
